DESIGN
Developed by the Alfa Romeo Style Centre, the 8C Spider has an elegant, original line styled around the wheels, with a powerful, muscular side, and a profile that appears to be shaped by the wind. 8C Spider is a perfect blend of Italian passion and technological research.
STYLE
EXTERIOR
CARBON CERAMIC BRAKES & PAINTED BRAKE CALLIPERS
Safety is maximized thanks to Brembo carbon ceramic (CCM) brakes with a 380 mm diameter on the front wheels and a 360mm diameter on the rear wheels. The considerable weight reduction compared with a traditional braking system also reduces the unsprung weight of the vehicle resulting in improvement in dynamic behavior and driving comfort.
TIRES & WHEELS
The innovative 20’ “P Zero Corsa” tires are mounted on aluminum formed perforated rims and feature treads and structures created for extreme sporting use.
BODY
The lightness of carbon fiber, the purity of form, and compact dimensions are the result of a concept to create a car offering sensation of pure pleasure, both in look and in drive.
TOP
The 8C Spider features a black top consisting of two-ply material overlapped for greater resistance to atmospheric agents and an intermediate layer to guarantee the cabin soundproofing. Semi-automatic opening system, complete with a glass rear window and removable wind stop. In about 20 seconds the 8C Spider is ready to measure up to any temperature and weather conditions.
INTERIOR
High-tech materials and elite full-grain leather create an intimate space, for a sporty feeling without scarifying comfort and safety.
DRIVER’S KIT
The standard steering wheel is lined with micro-perforated black full-grain hand stitched leather. The spokes and paddles are made of aluminum with ergonomic grip.
OPTIONAL CRUISE CONTROL
Driver selects the desired speed using the system that acts on the throttle of the engine
STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM
The stability control system (VDC) has been specifically developed to protect the driver without interfering with his/her driving experience. The device can be deactivated but it is reactivated automatically in conditions that can impair the vehicle safety.
PARKING BRAKE
Electro-mechanical parking brake activated manually or automatically when the ignition key is removed. On restarting, the brake is removed when the driver accelerates.
SPORT SEATS
Designed to provide the maximum lateral support while driving. The use of a carbon fiber shell helps keeping the car’s weight down, offering better performance.
UPHOLSTERY
A cabin designed around the driver, with the most exclusive leathers, hand-stitched with intricate braiding, in the most exclusive colors: red, titanium, tan (Terra di Siena) and black.
DASH
The high-tech modernity of carbon fiber and aluminum combines with the traditional elegance of leather and natural fibers to create an exclusive, unique interior.
KICK PLATE
Made of carbon fiber with a brush steel and customized “8 C Spider” insert.
There is a customized 500 limited edition plaque on the central tunnel. It is made of silver, and bears the owner’s name, the flag of their country of origin and of the country of manufacture.
AUDIO
Becker radio CD with voice controls, Bluetooth and MP3 capability. Bose sound system and iPod connection optional.
OPTIONAL NAVIGATION SYSTEM
Pictogram and 3D type navigation system; US maps uploaded on a 2GB memory card.

PERFORMANCE
ENGINE
The heart of the car is the new 8-cylinder 90º V engine with an engine capacity of 4691 cc, capable of developing 450 hp at 7000 rpm, with a peak torque of 480 Nm at 4750 rpm and a maximum engine speed of 7500 rpm. A mechanical gem with an unmistakable noise, designed to ensure extraordinary performance and versatility in any driving condition.
GEARBOX AND TRANSMISSION
Like Formula 1 cars from the 50’s, the 8C Competizione has a Transaxle setup, offering the best possible equilibrium in the weight distribuition. The engine is located directly behind the front wheels, while the gearbox and differential are housed inside the rear axle in order to guarantee weight balance and improve the vehicle’s stability and response. The 6-speed electro-hydraulic Q-Select sequential gearbox has a computer-controlled gear selection using the levers behind the steering wheel. Drivers can chose between normal and sport modes which more drastically reduce engagement times, modifiy pedal/accelerator feeling and exalt the sound of the engine. Auto mode is available for a relaxed drive.
CHASSIS AND SUSPENCTION
The steel chassis ensures high torsion stiffness, which is needed to get the best out of the suspension system. The wishbone suspension setup front and rear offers sportiness, precision and the maximum surface contact between the tires and the ground. Stability control provided by the VDC system ensures a sporty yet safe drive, without doing anything to impair the driving pleasure. The result is maximum control, excellent handling and outstanding performance.
AERODYNAMICS
Every aspect of the 8 C Competizione has been designed to ensure the best possible aerodynamics. The angel of incidence of the front, the careening of the underbody and the extractor were all calibrated to ensure excellent aerodynamic flows, using modern calculations and thousands of hours of wind-tunnel experimentation and testing, akin to the work done on competition cars designed to win races.
COLORS
The body colors are specifically designed to highlight the harmony and purity of the car’s lines, with an innovative painting technique involving the application of a first coat of base pigments, followed by a second coat of colored mica particles designed to bring out the luminosity of the color. A further coat is then applied to give a fuller, more translucent look, and the Competizione red is then completed with the application of a transparent varnish to emphasize the color depth.
ACCESSORIES
Every aspect of the 8C Competizione simply exudes style: from the coordinated set of luggage to the interior leathers, to the car care devices and the dust sheet.
