The 296 GTB’s V-6 is coupled with a plug-in (PHEV) electric motor in order to optimize performance and efficiency. The result is pure power and excitement, perfect for day-to-day driving and maximum performance as you speed up that mountain highway. The 120° 6-cylinder engine structure allows the turbochargers to fit within a “Vee.” Ferrari says this increases its compactness, lowers its center of gravity, reduces mass, all while helping it achieve audacious power levels (663 cv). Together, the internal-combustion engine and electric motor can churn out an astonishing 818 horsepower. That means you can get from zero to 60 in just 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph. You can select four different powertrain modes: eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify. The eDrive powertrain powers the car with electricity only and offers a rear-wheel-drive EV capable of going 16 miles at up to 84 mph. The default mode, Hybrid, blends the gasoline engine and electric motors so you enjoy optimum power and efficiency. Performance mode ensures that the internal-combustion engine is on at all times and takes advantage of battery and electric motor for maximum power. Last but not least, Qualify zeroes in on maximizing performance while lowering the cost of battery recharging. This is an extraordinary car for some extraordinary years ahead. The engine of the Ferrari 296 GTB's 2.992-liter displacement and six cylinders give the car its name while the wide 120-degree vee design helps give the body its shape.

The 296 GTB’s V-6 architecture includes a 120-degree vee angle that is wider than a traditional 90-degree angle, allowing Ferrari to create a twin-turbo "hot vee" in which the turbochargers are positioned between the two-cylinder banks.
Blended Cooling
The brake cooling system on this Ferrari is blended into the headlight design, where intakes under the daytime running light bring cool air to the wheels’ wells.
